SOMATIC TRAUMA-SENSITIVE

FACILitATOR TRAINING

Calling all yoga teachers and other bodywork facilitators: join Somatic Practitioner Meagan Connley and YACEP Kara Garrod the weekend of January 23-25 for a 15-hour experiential program and YA training* to explore somatics, trauma, and the nervous system.

You will learn:

  • How to increase your awareness of how trauma may be showing up in your spaces

  • Practical tools and frameworks to apply to your teaching / facilitation

  • How to support embodied healing for you and your students through deep somatic principles

We will cover Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing frameworks, trauma awareness, experiential practices for embodied learning, and considerations for how to apply all of this knowledge to your space.

January 23-25 — Friday 7-9 pm, saturday and sunday 9 am-4:30 pm

You will have a lunch break from 12:30-1:30 pm; feel free to pre-order food from our friendly downstairs neighbors Nourish at be. or our friends at Wyoming Community Coffee a few store fronts south of the studio.

How to register: First, register as a student of Kindred Flow on Ubindi (see “How to Register as a Student”) then scroll the Packs section on Ubindi to purchase the program for $375. Mark your calendar and join us for an informative weekend of learning and connection.

yoga nidra

Yoga Nidra is an ancient yogic practice which modern science now identifies as a highly effective mind-body therapy. It invites practitioners to experience a deep level of relaxation described as a state of being somewhere between wakefulness and sleep, where one can be a quiet observer.

Each class, your instructor will provide time for you to set an intention for the practice, some grounded, gentle movement, and pranayama (breath-body) practice. Then we will invite you to get as comfortable as you can, using studio props or your own, as you settle in for deep rest. Your teacher will then walk you through a guided meditation combining traditional methods and modern scientific insight to help you feel both more connected to self, and a curious witness to your underlying peace.

candlelight yoga (winter months)

Savor a gentle flow to calm the mind. Postures will be held longer, allowing you to feel fully engaged and present on your mat. Additionally, this allows you to embrace the pranayama (breathwork) aspect of the practice.

The atmosphere is cozy, tranquil, and soothing as your practice is accompanied by the flickering glow of candlelight.

Prepare to unwind, relax, and surrender to complete bliss. Perhaps you will even find a personal understanding of the term, “Om” — the sacred sound of the universe, representing the unity of the individual soul to universal consciousness.

somatic yin Yoga

One Saturday and one Sunday a month (generally, but not always, the first and third, respectively) join us for a Somatic Yin Yoga practice, to help you feel safe coming into your body and therefore the present moment. You will increase your range of motion while loosening the fascia that keeps us constricted and tight. Modifications are always available as you explore your inner sensations and determine what is safe for you in the moment.

Your class passes and monthly or annual subscriptions can be used toward these classes. For more details, visit Presence with Love.
